Hi, I’m Robbie.
I’m a British Actor and Photographer. Thanks for being here!
I have always been fascinated with the camera. A simple tool used to capture and immortalize a moment in time, including all the memories and context associated with that moment.
My interest began when I was 10 years old, while shooting my first lead in a feature film, "Fugitive Pieces". I would beg the Director of Photography and the camera operators to show me how that big, beautiful camera worked. During our lunch breaks, on occasion, they had enough patience to take me through the basics. I will always be grateful to them for nurturing my interest.
At the end of our shoot, our Director gave me my first camera as a wrap gift. I became obsessed with the damn thing, and would take pictures of whatever I could, whenever I could.
Years later, the iPhone entered my life. Those poorly compressed, low quality images became my go-to medium because of how easy it was to shoot. (they actually take amazing photos now!) I always had a keen eye, but never the equipment or the drive to improve.
Once I began using Instagram, I was able to share my photos to a wider audience. If you scroll down to the very bottom on my personal page @robbiekay, you will find some 'artsy' photos, long before I posted any selfies. Good luck, there are a lot of photos to wade through.
In 2021, I finally decided to take photography more seriously. I invested in a camera - the Sony A7RIV, along with a 24-70mm Sony G Master Lens. It has been my companion, travelling with me everywhere I go. I am still learning and growing as a photographer, and continue to find new ways to use this amazing tool.
We are always drawn to items that hold sentimental value to us. They mean so much more.
To me, this project is a journey. A unique, personal insight into my life as a photographer, an actor, a human being. It will be constantly changing and evolving.
Having worked on this project for the last two and a half years, I am so excited to share my work with you - and more importantly - have you be involved in its legacy.
Thank you so much for being here. It truly means the world to me.
